Seasoning wood?

What is the best way to season logs of yew wood and how long will it take?

Seasoning wood?
Make sure it is off the ground and out of the rain. If it is cut up like a cord of wood about a year. Uncut a lot longer.
Reply:The wood must be split to season properly. After that you have a couple of options. You can stack the wood as most people do with all the wood facing the same direction and maximizing the amount of wood you can store in one place. Assuming the wood stays dry and is off the ground (at least 4 inches to allow air flow) it will take about a year. If you live in a hot climate and the wood is split early spring, you may be able to burn it the next winter. To expedite the seasoning, stack the wood in alternating directions, allowing for air flow between the pieces. This takes up much more space, but it will allow you to burn the wood sooner. Hope this helps.
