5X-3Y=47
6X-Y=7
iiF YEW COULD SHOW ME DA STEPS iiF NOT JUST DA ANSWER AND iiL TRY TO FiiGURE iIT OUT PLEASE = /
Does anyone know how to?
Did you look at examples in your text book?
Here is a hint. First you must know how to solve equations with one variable such as 3x -2 + 5x +4 = 27. If you know how to do this then you are ready to find values for x and y that make both equations true at the same time. The way you do this is by using rules of algebra to combine the two equations in some cleaver way so that one of the variables drops out and you are left with an equation with only one variable which you should know how to solve.
You know that multiplying every term of an equation (both sides) by the same number does not change the solution. Multiply every term of the second eqution by -3 to get
-18x +3y = -21
Now this says that -18x + 3y and -21 are equal so you can add one of them to the left side of the first equation and the other to the right side without changing the solutions.
Write this new equation (the one ablve) under the first equation and add the x terms of each equation together, then the y terms, then the constants on the right side of the equations.
Did you see what happens? You got a new equation that only contains xs. Solve for x. Then put the value you got for x in either equation (the second will be the easiest) and solve for y. The two numbers you have for x and y are called the simultaneous solutions to this system of equations. Putting them in for x and y in either equation should make the equation true.
You could also solve the second equation for y to get
y = 6x - 7 and substitute the 6x-7 for y in the first equation and proceed as above.
Reply:just multiply the 2nd equaion by 3 so tat upon subraction te y term gets cancelled out
now it becomes 18x-3y=21
now subract theequation 5x-3y=47 from above
we get 13x=-26
x=-2,now substitute for y in any of the equation to get y=-19
Reply:6x-y=7
y=6x-7
substitute for y
5x-3(6x-7)=47
x=-2
Reply:5X-3Y=47
6X-Y=7 ~~~%26gt; y =6x-7
5x -3(6x-7) =47
5x -18x +21 =47
-13x = 47-21 = 26
x =-2
y =6x-7 = 6(-2) -7 = -19
Reply:no need to shout.
Reply:5X-3Y=47----1
6X-Y=7----2
Now,
Equ.1*6=30x-18y=282----3
Equ.2*5=30x-5y=35--------4
Now,
Equ.3-Equ4 %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt; -13y=247 %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt; y = -19
Substitute y = -19 in Equ.1:
Then,
5x+57=47
%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;5x = -10
%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt; x = -2
Hence,the answer is x = -2 %26amp; y = -19
