IM @ SCHOOL in a GEOGRAPHY lesson need HELP...!!!?

OK.. I need A reason for why most earthquakes and volcanoes go off in the japan area. I know they do in other areas as well but its mainly in japan... why!?! Luff yew ty xoxox

IM @ SCHOOL in a GEOGRAPHY lesson need HELP...!!!?
That is where the worst pacific fault line lies, near Japan. In the future do it yourself or you will never learn.
Reply:Ask your teacher!!
Reply:Due to the fault line!
Reply:Japan must sit on a rift in the earths tectonic plates, fault lines etc in the earths crust. Put your hand up and say please miss/sir "I'm a goody two shoes and I know the answer"
Reply:You are in class? Why aren't you listening to the lesson?
Reply:Japan is like Iceland - It is along the crack between two tectonic plates that are moving in opposite directions - It's like where the earth is coming apart at the seams and the stuff inside is bursting out -hope that explains it
Reply:Part of the ring of fire group and where tectonic plates are pushing together more often...
Reply:Japan is located in an area where continental and oceanic plates meet. These plates are always moving because the plate edges are not smooth they can get stuck this causes pressure to build up an earthquake starts when is pressure is released.

A volcano is an opening in the earths crust and are usually formed when these plates move apart.
Reply:It is for the same reason that california has so many earthquakes. It is because they both sit right on a fault line. The fault line is the edge of the plate that each continent sits on, these plates move and when they collide into each other they create earthquakes. Japan sits right on a fault line, they also have the ring of fire nearby, which is a ring of volcanoes that are underwater and some above ground, when those go off they can also create earthquakes, they create tsunamis as well.
Reply:Japan sits on a moving plate in the earths crust.
Reply:Have a look at this, hope it helps

Reply:The earth is made up of many plates. These are covering the surface and when they move they push together. When they do this they start to push up and then form an earth quake. Japan is on the edge of two plate pushing together. Its called plated techtonics.
Reply:Earthquakes only happen where there are instablities in the earths crust. The most active are in Japan and the west coast of the USA,so that is where they happen most often.
Reply:Three crustal plates meet near to the coast of Japan. Close to Kobe, the denser oceanic Philippines Plate is being subducted beneath the lighter continental Eurasian Plate at a rate of about 10 centimetres per year. The Japanese island arc has been formed from the molten magma released by the melting Philippines Plate. Earthquakes are very common here and happen because of the friction resulting from the two plates colliding along this destructive margin.
Reply:Pacific rim is ringed with fault lines due to the tectonic plates sliding together. All around the rim of the Pacific ocean, from Ecudador to California to Alaska, to Japan to Indonesia.

As it is Geography, I'll bet there's a map of this phenomenon
Reply:Japan lies near a fault line in the earths crust.
Reply:its cos the tectonic plates are thinner in japan and so molten rock can get out easier and become lava from volcanos.
