i use a lot of different lumbers in various projects. recently i acquired (was given) nearly 1k bf of sassafrass lumber and some cants. what are the working characteristics of sassafrass? i have cut some blanks to try stains and finishes. the blanks seem to take the finishes i have tried well. sands well, goes throught the plainer well. it does not seem to be a long fibered wood. what are its load carrying capabilities?
it is a pungent wood. does it have the same or simmilar effect on bugs/moths as aeromatic red cedar? also aquired some yew turning blanks. need the same information for yew too. thanks
