Remedies for table top stains please...?

i think that a visiting tradesman has put a hot cup down several times on a much loved varnished cabinet, it has caused a whitening on the surface in rings, any solutions as to how to gently restore the appearance to its former glory ?? ( that of a yew colouring) I have asked a french polisher to come and have a look next week but suspect it will be costly. Obviously the workman denies all knowledge and my contents insurance excess is high..thanks

Rub with real mayo. Good luck.
Reply:use carpet cleaner and then dry it up with paper towels.
Reply:gently rub olive oil into the marks, or you can buy a product for removning marks on wood, you will get it from robert dyas os similar shop
Reply:Just leave it - the hot cup has driven moisture under the varnished finish, if you wait it will see to itself and eventually evaporate taking the mark with it. Your french polisher will have to strip the varnish back to make the same thing happen! Be patient, there may be a trace left, but it's more gentle than attacking the thing with more moisture or chemicals.
Reply:try rubbing cold tea into it
