I always watched Singapore's National Day Parade with pride and whenever Singapore's MM Lee Kuan Yew enters, I just stand in reverence to him. But the most touching parade I have watched was the exit of the late President Ong Teng Cheong. There was sadness in the air when he waved goodbye and years after , his wife passed away. Nothwithstanding the loneliness he had felt, he followed shortly.
Can you share some of your memories? Thanks
What are your fondest memories of past National Day Parades?
Yeah i agree with you guys...me and my cousins actually make it a point every national day to gather at my grandmother's place and watch the parade together,we sing the songs loudly, oooh and aaah at the fireworks and stand up and put our hands on our chest during the pledge.
Actually the parade have kind of get a bit blase in recent years if you only watch it on TV.I've managed to watched NDP preview once in National Stadium , Once at Padang and just last weekend rehearsal at the Marina Bay.(Its not the preview,no fireworks, minimal effect etc)I have to say that the atmosphere of watching it live is great.
What is really new and exciting this coming parade is the 3D segment, where you'll get to see all the latest in our defence system.Seeing the Apache Helicopter do the salute to the nation is really something not to be missed!
Happy National Day to All! :)
Reply:i dont have TV
Reply:Who is MM Lee Kuan Yew?? I only know SM Lee and MM Goh.....:-)
Late President was my favourite president, at least he dare to speak up on certain policies as a president. Unlike the currrent.......
Reply:MM Lee Kuan Yew is Minister Mentor. :)
I never went to the parade, not even to the preview, because I was terribly sick that day. But I remember when I was younger, in primary school, when my siblings and I would watch the fireworks from the window of my grandmother's house. We had a spectacular view. =)
I watched every year's NDP and always stood up when it was our National Anthem. Haha, that was weird when no one could see us in our own home. =/
I hope tomorrow's parade will be something to remember too. :)

Reply:I do not have much impressions on that even though Mr. Ong Teng Cheong is my favourite President also.
My fondest memories, guess should be when I was very young, can't really recall how old I am then but it was the 1st time I went to NDP..Still can remember how excited I was when there were planes flying over the stadiums. Even though the memory is not very clear already, but I can remember it's my dad who brought me there, it was the 1st and also the last time he brought me to NDP. And now that he was no longer with us, this vague but memorable memories will always stay in my heart..

Reply:omg Tan D! you don't know who's MM Lee Kuan Yew?
Anyway, not much memories of past NDPs. I only once got tickets for NDP and i think that was like back in 1988 or something. never EVER got anymore NDP tickets. i think the NDP ticketing system should be fairer, like maybe those who got tickets to this year's NDP should be excluding when balloting for next year's tickets.
else, it's just my luck i suppose. in some way, i've already given up hoping to go watch NDP live. Always end up watching on the tv anyway.
