Question about religion o_o;?

well this sunday is my first meeting for my confirmation thing

but im not sure if i want to do it at all D:

i dont know if i believe in god

and i dont believe in jesus either

but my brother didnt get confirmed - and my parents were really upset about it, my mom even started crying Dx they said it was my option whether to do it or not, and i dont really, but i want to make them happy?

most of my friends are doing it for the money and presents and stuff o_O

im pretty sure im gonna go through with it, but it feels wrong to confirm myself to something i dont believe in D:

if yew were in my shoes, would yew do it?

Question about religion o_o;?
You say that you don't know if you believe in God or not, so obviously you don't know if you should go through with conformation or not.

Before you decide if you're going to be conformed or not, you should decide whether you believe in God. That's a decision we all have to make. First decide what you believe, and then decide what you're going to do (or not do) about it.

If I were in your shoes, I would think long and hard about this and then make my decision. Don't depend on strangers on the internet--this is a personal matter.
Reply:If there is no hypocrisy then there is no reason not to do it. I would remember that ceremony is used to reinforce a meaning, like marriage or graduation. Everything being reinforced is pretty good right?
Reply:It actually IS "confirmation". Yes, I think you should do it. Why do you say you don't believe in God? I pray that you do this and think about what you said.
Reply:well just listen please! there are sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo many things from the bible that it said would happen -and u can look and see that they have happened, and when russia sends its whole air army after Israel, and each plane bursts into flames like the bible says, then will you believe it? all this prophecy is coming true right before your eyes and u dont believe it. please please just think about this-it can save you from an eturnity of burning.
Reply:honestly nobody here can tell ya what to do but try realizing and thinking through WHY it is that you dont believe in GOD. alot of ppl dont because they think too hard and are confused....the sad part is they dont realize they make it so complicated....i'm not trying to force u to be something you dont want to be but relax your brain and forget about all the science and complicated stuff in this world, its not hard unless u wanna make it hard jus to not accept it.....think about it just a little bit.
Reply:When I started my confirmation program I thought it was a waste of my time, that I had so many better things to do. I didn't believe in God and I really gave people that did a hard time. However when I went through the program it really changed the way I saw things, and no I was not brainwashed. At the end of the program they allow you to chose whether or not you want to be confirmed, they will not confirm you if you do not feel ready or do not believe. I suggest just giving it a try, you never know what will happen. If at the end of it you still do not believe, then do not get confirmed, there would be no sense, but if at the end of it you decide that this is something you want then get confirmed. Just go in with an open mind and don't do it for the gifts. Best of luck
Reply:Confirmation is for your family primarily IMHO. I'd say do it for them.

As to the whole "God thing" I've been an Atheist, a Pagan/Wiccan and now I'm an Anabaptist preacher in my spare time. In a year who knows, you may believe everything you assert in your Confirmation. Go ahead, I say.
Reply:If you don't believe it in, why get confirmed? Why do something for your parents? That's silly. However, if you DO get confirmed, it's not like you are stuck there forever, if you later choose another religion, sometimes that confirmation can be transferred to another religion, or so I've heard. I was baptized and confirmed but it was because I wanted to and I had a strong conviction about God and Jesus. Stick to your gut, if you don't want it, then express that decision to your parents, if your brother did it then you can too, talk to him and have him give you pointers on what to do. Best of luck!
Reply:If you don't feel comfortable with it, then don't do it. I wouldn't do it if I were you. If it doesn't feel right, then don't do it.
Reply:its your choice wut religion u r. not ur parents
Reply:confirmed? you mean like conformation? i did that when i was younger because my mom made me and tried to force religion on me i think thats why i turned atheist. .tell her how you feel. or just go along with it to make her happy~
